How the money raised will make a difference?
I’m doing an Ironman and raising money for Challenge.
When I was a kid, I had cancer (Rhabdomyosarcoma) and was really unwell for a long time. Challenge supported me and my family through that whole period, and honestly made an incredibly hard time a lot more manageable.
They give kids and families something to look forward to when everything else feels pretty heavy. Whether it’s experiences, support, or just a break from hospital life, it makes a bigger difference than you can really explain unless you’ve been in it.
They even supported us years later when our mum was diagnosed with a terminal illness, which says everything about the kind of organisation they are.
So yes… signing up for an Ironman is probably a bit unhinged. Especially considering I never learnt how to swim as a kid (kind of busy being sick), and have only really figured it out in the last year.
But the reality is, the challenge of training and the day itself is nothing compared to what kids with cancer are so unfairly forced to deal with.
If you’re able to donate, it would mean a lot. Challenge genuinely helps families get through some really difficult times.
