Help Challenge Deliver More Smiles!

I was first introduced to Challenge and the incredible work they do through a great man, Mark Hood. He organised a special night for fathers whose children are currently fighting, or have previously fought, cancer.

During that evening, I had the opportunity to sit down and speak with one of the fathers. As we talked, he shared the story of his son’s battle with cancer and the dreams his son had of travelling the world one day. What struck me most was when the father admitted how difficult it was for him to tell his son that there is a possibility he may not be alive to see those dreams come true.

In that moment, hearing those words directly from a father who is living through that reality, I was completely taken aback. It was incredibly confronting and emotional, and it truly opened my eyes to the unimaginable challenges these families face every single day.

That conversation stayed with me, and it’s a big part of why I want to do something meaningful to support kids and families fighting cancer.

Challenge provides an extensive range of non-medical support services including playgroup, music and art therapy, massage therapy and practical information. In the community, Challenge offers camps, tickets to sporting matches and concerts, holiday accommodation, parent retreats, home help, financial support and educational scholarship opportunities. In hospital, Challenge has a daily interface on the ward which involves providing equipment, activities and support.
